Crowning

Dentistry is an Art!
Crowning is an important part of dental treatment. Crown is a “cap”, which is “tooth-shaped” made up of metals like gold or any other alloy, stainless steel, resin, ceramic, or porcelain fused to metal. They are mainly used to cover up a damaged tooth as well as for restoring tooth’s natural shape and size. We can replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that have an exact look and feel of natural teeth. How long does it take to fit a dental crown?
Dental crowning usually requires two visits or sittings, with one or two weeks gap between both the visits. At the first visit, dental expert will remove the decay, shape the tooth, takes the impression and fix a temporary crown made of plastic or metal.
Now when patient arrives for second sitting, we remove the temporary crown and fix the final one. At the end, we cement that crown into place and you are all set to go home smiling bright.
Key Benefits of Dental Crowns
It strengthens damaged and broken teeth, dental crowns are a great help to improve teeth’s overall appearance and avoid any type of chewing problems. One can smile wide naturally with these crowns.
What are the capabilities of crowns?
Crowns and bridges are non-removable devices that are cemented into teeth and are very reliable solution for dental problems caused due to accidents, diseases or any miss-happenings.
They are a great way to replace large fillings, to cover a dental implant, to save a fractured tooth or to cover a tooth after root canal treatment. Preferred materials for these repair works is either any good quality porcelain or porcelain bonded to gold. There can be no best and long term solution for repairing damaged or broken teeth except crowning and bridging.
Zirconia Crowns
Zirconia Crowns are made up of Zirconia, known for its strength and compatibility with human body. This makes it a best alternative for stained or disfigured teeth. They are easy to wear and durable too. Its translucent appearance makes it preferable because it is hard to distinguish them from natural teeth.
The process to fix it is very similar to fixing of other type of crowns and involves 2 stages, i.e. Preparation and Fitting. In Preparation stage, your teeth are examined and measured for a crown. It also involves tooth cleaning followed by reshaping it with a specially designed tiny drill.
In order to ensure that the tooth is in correct form, a small fragment of tooth is removed by giving local anesthesia. A mold/cast is then created with dental putty followed by telling you to bite into. This will be used as a model for making a final new crown for you.
In the Second stage of this process, the tooth on which this crown will be fitted is roughened by using a dental acid, resulting in strong bond between crown and tooth. This will help to fit the final crown on you more accurately. The dentist will at last check the crown’s proper alignment and fix it permanently by cementing it. He will then polish it and you will be all set to go back happily because zirconia crown can be maintained in the same way you do your natural teeth.

- CROWNS - Dental Crown is a cap (tooth shaped) which is placed over tooth to restore its strength and restore its shape and size. Porcelain crowns are placed when certain part of tooth structure is lost and when filling will not be much beneficial for maintaining the tooth. In most cases, they cover the top of the tooth and go down the side of the tooth, holding it together to prevent further damage of the teeth.
The new porcelain crowns are called "second-generation" materials because they are stronger and long lasting than the original porcelain type materials which were in use thirty years ago. These new materials are better in every aspect and are more translucent to match the natural color of teeth. They bond better with the tooth or to the metal beneath the porcelain on the porcelain/metal crowns.
All Porcelain Crowns can provide huge and prominent cosmetic changes than porcelain veneers. Unlike porcelain veneers that only covers the front sides of teeth; all Porcelain Crowns cup over and encase the entire tooth structure above the gum line. Porcelain Crowns are stronger and more durable, so for perfect positioning it demands slight trimming of tooth. For the Best Crowning Treatment in South Delhi , Book your appointment with us!
